After waiting for what seemed like at eternity to get back in a Kart I was really excited to get back to Bayford Meadows for round 1 of the SuperPro Sprint Series. There was a big turnout with over 30 drivers spread out across 8 heats – each driver would complete in 3 sprints (I was in heats 1, 2 and 8). Unfortunately this meant that most of the grids were quite small – about 11 Karts. The sun was out and it was a beautiful day.Continue reading
Under grey skies and the threat of rain, 20 drivers took part in round 2 of the Winter Cup at Bayford Meadows. I was quite happy with my performance in round 1, taking my first overall win on track and was in 5th in the championship. I knew that if Lewis and Dean were taking place then 3rd would be the best I could expect…. especially if the rain arrived.Continue reading
Under grey skies and the threat of rain, Saturday the 24th October saw the start of the Bayford Meadows SuperPro Winter Cup – a 6 round championship with the best 5 rounds counting. On the day, there were 26 drivers taking part across 3 classes – I was in the <75kg class with 9 other drivers. A meeting where I recorded my first win in a SuperPro race meeting. After taking the lead, I spent the 2nd half of the race concentrating on not throwing the win away and was so happy to finally see the checkered flag after what seemed like an eternity!Continue reading
One of the advantages of having couple of weeks in-between jobs is that I could get in a bit of practice in a Kart rather than on the PS4. While I was still working I booked a practice session at Lydd on what I hoped would be a dry day. While I was off, I booked a practice at Buckmore on the spur of the moment as it was such a nice day.
The session at Lydd unfortunately was wet and not as much fun.Continue reading
Saturday the 26th September saw the final round of the Bayford Meadows SuperPro Summer Cup take place in less than summery weather. It was cold and windy with a feeling of rain to come. On the day, 27 drivers competed in 3 of 7 heats with 15 in the lightweight class that I was entered in to. Coming in to the event I was 4th in the championship and hopeful that I could maintain that.
At the end of the meeting I was disappointed to have finished so badly in 2 races because of (I felt) bad Karts. The last one had been especially bad. I dropped from 4th place in the championship to 6th, beaten to 4th by Steve Best by 3pts. That fight we’d had at round 2 had cost me more than I thought at the time 🙁Continue reading
Saturday the 22nd August saw competitive hire karting at Bayford Meadows continue with round 2 of the Summer Cup. It was the usual format with each driver competing in 3 10 lap races with a short practice before each race. There was a bumper entrance with a record 7 heats – and with lots of visiting drivers it was going to be interesting.Continue reading
With lockdown restrictions starting to lift I was given the opportunity to take part in the first Hire Kart sessionContinue reading
