First of all, thanks for taking the time to visit my site and read a bit about me. My name is Doug and I like to race Karts. I also have a family, dog, a day job, bills and a mortgage so I don’t get to race as often as I would like.
Today, I’m in my early forties. In my late twenties I was a member of Manchester & Buxton Kart Club and raced Senior TKM at Three Sisters, PFI, Clay Pigeon and Kimbolton. I was’t particularly quick but I enjoyed it immensely.
During the week, I’m a Agile Delivery Manager for an online fashion company. I work with 3 engineering teams to build high quality, working software to keep the site running. My engineering teams use the Agile Manifesto and 12 Agile Principles to help them build software. This is supplemented by using the Scrum framework.
I can ( and will) talk about Scrum in a separate post but I’ll outline the fundamentals here as they form the cornerstone of what I want this site and my racing to be about.
Scrum is an empirical framework, meaning that it uses data verifiable by observation or experience to guide us. It stands on 3 pillars of equal importantance – transparency, inspection and adapation. My data, experience and observations will form the basis of what I examine to make adapt my driving and racing to improve my results. Throughout all of this I’ll be clear and transparent about what I’m doing and why.
