Race Club Season 3 Round 8/12 – Donington Park

It was supposed to be a wet race at Donington but after trying the server with various levels of rain I couldn’t face it – so instead it was a cold and cloudy weekend. Last season I’d quite enjoyed the Donington races and was looking forward to driving it again. A busy week at work meant that I wouldn’t get much time to practice so I’d have to rely on the few laps I could get in and previous experience.

Race Club Season 3 Round 7/12 – Barcelona

The circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya isn’t a track I’ve raced on very often – the only other time I can remember is way back in the first season of the ESR championship. It’s never a popular track and some of the Race Club drivers weren’t very impressed when they saw it on the calendar. It’s one of the few tracks we haven’t raced at in the previous 2 seasons (the others being Paul Ricard and Snetterton) so I added it this season for a bit of variety.

Race Club Season 3 Round 6/12 – Spa-Francorchamps

As we arrived at the mid-point of the season, I had to reflect that on the whole it had been pretty bad so far. So bad in fact that I hadn’t bothered to writeup the previous 2 rounds and had even quit the Kyalami race after crashing out having done no practice. In season 2, I’d actually had quite a good race at Spa and having put in some practice this time I wanted to get my season back on track.

Race Club Season 3 Round 3/12 – Hungaroring

The Hungaroring is one of three tracks Race Club hasn’t yet raced at (the others being Snetterton and Barcelona) and I was looking forward to the evenings racing. This was the first track that I’d driven the Lamborghini at so I knew the track, had a setup and, while I was confident of having some good racing I wasn’t expecting a great result.

Race Club Season 3 Round 1/12 – Brands Hatch

Season 3 of Race Club would kick off with a 1hr race at Brands Hatch before moving on to the more usual 30 minute sprints. For this season I’d be sticking with the Lamborghini Huraçan GT3 and teaming up with Ben in #TeamLambo (teams being a new addition to season 3). After a busy week at work and spending the weekend at Bayford Meadows and Buckmore Park I’d not done very much practice at all. Fortuitously it wasn’t that long since we’d been at Brands in Season 2 so at least I had a setup still.

Race Club Season 2 Round 12/12 – Monza

After 11 rounds, this is what it all came down to. A final 2 hour endurance at Monza, starting at dusk and running on into the dark. Monza is usually a track I go well at and in practice sessions I washed good pace, finding a lot of time over my previous best in the AMG and recording a personal best of 1:49.5 the day before the race. If I could keep it together for 2 hours I was in with a chance of a good result.

Race Club Season 2 Round 11/12 – Zandvoort

Zandvoort isn’t a track I know at all so I had to spend a lot of time learning it which I recorded in this post. With only 2 rounds left and a couple of disappointing results recently I wanted to spend some time getting some consistency and finding a pace I could lap at. I needed a good haul of points if I was going to keep hold of my 7th place in the championship.

Race Club Season 2 Round 9/12 – Silverstone

In Season 1 I had my best result at Silvertone with a podium finish in the second race. My chances of being able to repeat this were reduced by the weather (which was wet) and my ability to practice (which was limited by a family holiday). I did get some practice in but suffered not just from a lack of pace but also any consistency at all. Going into the races I wasn’t expecting a good result at all.
